Will saltwater ruin silk charmeuse?

I am getting married in Jamaica, but would like to wear the dress again for the reception in Canada (may as well, for what we paid!). The photographer proposed a trash the dress shoot, which I love in theory, but I am afraid that it will ruin the fabric of my dress so that it will not be wearable. The dress is silk charmeuse. Does anyone know if the charmeuse could handle the ocean?
