Can you find old pictures on your computer that were once deleted? If so, how?

I have a feeling my daughter may have sent out a pic or two of herself. Possibly over a yahoo mail account but more likely over Facebook messaging. She deletes everything, of course, and I hear things are always on your computer. So is there a way for me to go into anything to find out for sure. I am not a wiz at computers but with a little direction I think I can follow!
