I bleached my hair, not how i wanted it :/?

I bleached my hair a few weeks ago, and it went a bright orange tone.. it was black by the way.. i put two boxes of ash blonde the same day.. i think it reacted because it burnt my head! it wasnt left on for longer than ten minutes so i washed it off and i didnt mind the colour.. two days later i put a medium brown on and nothing changed.. the colors wearable so ive kept it ... its medium/dark brown now with orange and red toned and yellowish at the top... any ideas?
